The Peter Norbeck National Scenic Byway is considered one of the "10 Most Outstanding Byways in America". 

But "Big Buses" are too tall and too wide to fit through the tunnels on Iron Mtn Road and Needles Highway.

Open-Top-Tours offers a sightseeing option for the Big Bus Travelers to visit these two famous Norbeck Highway icons. 

Utilizing our unique convertible top vans, large modified Jeeps and special glass top Mercedes vans, we transport the guests through the narrow tunnels, switchback curves and pigtail bridges  . . . in comfort with outstanding viewing. 

We offer several choices that will fit your timeline.

• 2 Hour Tour - the famous Doane Robinson Tunnel, Sylvan Lake and Needles Highway with stops for photos
• 3 Hour Tour - includes all of Iron Mtn Road, Needles Eye Highway and Sylvan Lake with stops for photo ops and exploring
• 3+ Hour Tour - same as 3 hour tour, but includes a picnic lunch at lake

MT RUSHMORE EVENING CEREMONY

​The Mount Rushmore Evening Lighting Ceremony is extremely popular, consistently ranking as the number one attended program in the entire National Park Service.

Big Bus companies do not offer the Mt Rushmore Evening Ceremony.  But many travelers would enjoy the Ceremony.

Open-Top-Tours offers two options for Big Bus travelers to enjoy the evening at Mt Rushmore 

• 2+ Hours - We pick up the guests from hotel one hour prior to the evening event
  • We stop to view Mt Rushmore through the famous Doane Robinson Tunnel (photo op)
  • Then we lead the guests to the amphitheater for the Ranger show, movie and lighting
  • Guests are returned to the hotel at conclusion
• 3+ Hours -  We pick up the guests from hotel one hour prior to the evening event
  • We stop to view Mt Rushmore through the famous Doane Robinson Tunnel (photo op)
  • Then we lead the guests to the amphitheater for the Ranger show, movie and lighting
  • *At the conclusion of the events, the guests return to the vehicle. We then drive Iron Mountain Road and view the lighted faces through the famous tunnels, then a stop at Norbeck Overview and (weather permitting) we take time to view the Milky Way and the amazing stars. 
  • We return the guests to the hotel.
